Skiing and Snowboarding in Hokkaido

Hokkaido offers skiers and snowboard enthusiasts some of the best snow conditions in the world! With about 20 foot of snow in most areas the average during the season, there are plenty of great days to enjoy the snow. The winter season gets into full swing from about mid December onwards to about the end of March.

Many powder hunters flock to the northern island of Hokkaido each winter in search of spectacular deep powder and great terrain. Hokkaido is the coldest and most northern Japanese island, with the most popular resorts being Niseko, Furano and Rusutsu.

There is a growing trend each year that sees a larger percentage of foreigners on the slopes, in particular Aussies, so expect to have no language problems if you are making your way around.
