With about 20 foot of snow in most areas the average during the season, there are plenty of great days to enjoy the snow. The winter season gets into full swing from about mid December onwards to about the end of March.

Many powder hunters flock to the northern island of Hokkaido each winter in search of spectacular deep powder and great terrain. Hokkaido is the coldest and most northern Japanese island, with the most popular resorts being Niseko, Furano and Rusutsu.
